Forge the Future: Manufacturing Defense Protective Structures

Project Objective

The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) seeks to identify businesses that have the capability to commercialize government-patented solutions in the category of protective structures and systems. Prototyped and field tested, these innovations offer market potential in military, civil, and commercial settings.

ERDCWERX, a partner of ERDC, provides no-cost assistance to businesses with the capacity and interest to commercialize a diverse range of ERDC-patented innovations including those listed above. Collaboration options with ERDC, the premier research and development center for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, include 12-month evaluation licenses, multi-year patent licenses, and/or cooperative research and development agreements (CRADA).

How to Express Interest

Businesses interested in these featured innovations are encouraged to engage with ERDCWERX by submitting a brief description of company strengths (production, supply chain, distribution, commercialization, federal government contracting experience) and other unique capabilities. Additional content may include initial thoughts and observations that highlight company potential to achieve commercialization success. The submission of proprietary or confidential information is discouraged.

Appropriate respondents will exhibit interest in licensing the above-listed innovations and possess experience and capability in the manufacture of products that involve the same or similar components, materials, or customer base.

Submitting parties will be contacted by ERDCWERX to engage in discussions, as needed, to gather additional information and establish understanding of submitted content. Submissions will be reviewed by ERDCWERX and ERDC to identify potential collaboration options based on the following criteria:

  • Experience of business team and insights shared
  • Business viability, strengths, and capabilities that point to the potential for success in commercialization

Select parties may be contacted to participate in a virtual pitch, if needed, which could provide an opportunity to further showcase experience, capabilities, and interest in the licensing process.
