Facility-Related Control System Industry Forum

21 March 2022 through 13 May 2022 (Virtual)

Overview: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is hosting a virtual Industry Forum on Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS) and Cybersecurity of Facility-Related Control Systems (FRCS). This Forum is sponsored by the Department of Defense Standards and Criteria Program and overseen by the Control Systems Discipline Working Group.

Taking advantage of the virtual setting, the Forum will take place over an 8-week period starting mid-March and running through May 2022:

  • Forum Week 1, Plenary Sessions (21 – 25 March) will consist of kickoff plenary sessions, one on Tuesday afternoon and one on Thursday morning. These sessions will provide an overview of the forum, an update on activities since the last industry forum in 2019, and include a time for open discussion. The material presented in both sessions will be the same, so attendees are encouraged to attend one (but not necessarily both) of the 4-hour plenary sessions.
  • Break for topic development. Following Week 1, there will be a 1-week break to allow attendees to submit recommended topics or questions for the focused sessions to be held during Weeks 2-4 of the forum.
  • Forum Week 2, Cybersecurity Focused Sessions (4 – 8 April) will include 4 sessions on cybersecurity, each focused on topics of interest to Manufacturers, Designers and Installers and a final joint session. Each session is anticipated to last approximately 3 hours.
  • Forum Week 3, UMCS and Enterprise System Focused Sessions (11 – 15 April) will include 3 sessions:  a) one session on a control system specification roadmap, fault detection and diagnostics, VTIME and other enterprise topics, b) one session on UMCS Integration and c) a session covering topics suggested by forum attendees. Each session is anticipated to last approximately 3 hours.
  • Forum Week 4, Building Control System Focused Sessions (18 – 22 April) will include 4 sessions:  a) two sessions on HVAC building control systems, b) one session on Lighting and other non-HVAC building control systems, and c) a session covering topics suggested by forum attendees. Each session is anticipated to last approximately 3 hours.
  • Forum Week 5 and 6, Small Group Meetings (25 April – 6 May). During these two weeks 2-hour time slots will be available for forum attendees to schedule individual or small group meetings with the Government team.  These meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss specific details of interest or concern.  We anticipate scheduling up to ten 2-hour time slots.
  • Forum Week 7, Wrap-up Plenary and Government Closing Plenary (9 May – 13 May) will include a single 2-hour plenary session during which the Government team will summarize topics from the forum and present key outcomes.  A separate Government-only Plenary session will also he held this week to allow Government attendees to discuss intra-Governmental items that arose during the forum.
